Summer is in full swing! Between the rodeo action I still manage to have time to catch some beautiful portraits of friends, family and maybe even some strangers! I am pretty thankful for some amazing people and a profession I love.
Summer is peak time for my photography. Rodeos are happening all days of the week and weekends. My phone is ringing with inquires and bookings for weddings, engagements and family photos. I some how manage to squeeze it all in and sometimes I am not quite sure how.
The more I travel and meet new friends in the photography world I am constantly learning new things that can, in one shape or form, better my business and my work. I love to learn and improve. You never know as a photographer if that could be someone’s last rodeo or the last time being with the whole family. That is a lot of pressure sometimes but that is why I strive to be the best.
A few weekends ago I got to see my friends from high school. We have stayed in touch since I moved home from Montana. Kasey does my hair and also assists me at weddings from time to time. She is really the best sidekick and I don’t think I could’ve made it through some of the gigs she’s attended with me without her.
Each year we find a time that works with our schedules to trek out and get photos of the two of them and their fur babies, Axel and Autumn. While we were out wading through the knee high grass we started to hear a strange barking noise. We all looked at each other thinking it sounded familiar but just couldn’t put our finger on it. We kept on and soon a cow elk jumped out of the willows. She had been yelling at us! She didn’t seem too bothered by us and the dogs left her alone. She made her way up and over the hill calling for her friends along the way.
Each photoshoot I do is so unique in its own way just like the people, couples or families I capture. These photos are some of my favorites so far. The evening weather was perfect, the sky was beautiful and when you have a couple this good it makes my job easy.
Here’s a small gallery of some of my favorites from the evening.
